The Institute will undertake projects, including in collaboration with governments and others, when we see opportunities to benefit Indigenous communities, businesses and groups. This includes nationally relevant, technical, and large-scale coordination activities that will help Fisheries and Oceans Canada implement recommendations that came out of Indigenous Program Review.
Our current projects are:
- Co-delivery of the Northern Integrated Commercial Fisheries Initiative
- Indigenous Training and Skills Development Partnership
- Large-scale, Multi-Nation BC Salmon Restoration and Innovation projects
- Compendium of Innovative Socio-economic Partnerships
We also recently completed an assessment of the technical capacity of Indigenous groups and communities to be involved in marine spatial planning.
