Indigenous Procurement Policy Dialogue

In collaboration with Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard, the Institute convened a virtual ‘workshop’ on Indigenous procurement opportunities and challenges in the DFO–CCG portfolio.

The workshop was held over four sessions to target specific topics related to procurement and to include different expert panelists, officials and Indigenous business managers and entrepreneurs.

As a result of the workshop, we gained a greater understanding of:

  • the current state of DFO–CCG procurement of Indigenous-owned and -operated businesses
  • current and future Indigenous procurement opportunities at DFO–CCG
  • Indigenous capacity, expertise and gaps with regards to the procurement process and successful delivery of contracts
  • administrative and/or policy constraints and opportunities based on lessons learned and best-case examples

The results of our workshop sessions are presented below. A final report on the project, including recommendations, is also available.
